Don Copeman
Founder & ChairmanDon Copeman is an experienced health care and information technology executive with over 40 years of parallel experience in each field. In 2005 he created Copeman Healthcare, the first private family healthcare organization in Canada. It grew to become the largest in the country, with 4 major clinics in Western Canada, and began earning recognition by Deloitte Canada as a “Best Managed Company” in 2013.
In 2011, Mr. Copeman designed and directed the engineering of Carebooktm , one of the world’s first universal personal health records for patient self-management and inter-professional collaboration, which became a cornerstone in Copeman Healthcare’s vision to bring important health data and technology to patients to assist them with therapeutic lifestyle change.
Prior to his work in establishing Copeman Healthcare, Mr. Copeman was a principal in Surgical Spaces Inc. (SSI) from its inception in 1997 until 2006 and served as its primary business advisor and CEO. SSI operated two of Canada’s first private surgical centres, the False Creek Surgical Centre in Vancouver, and the Maples Surgical Centre in Winnipeg.
Chris Nedelmann
Chief Executive OfficerChris Nedelmann is an entrepreneurial and execution driven healthcare executive with over 25 years of healthcare experience. He empowers leaders, and creates collaborative, people-first work cultures that drive accountability and strong results.
Mr. Nedelmann joined Copeman Healthcare in 2007 as the General Manager of its Calgary operation and became the Chief Operations Officer of the company in 2008. He was promoted to the role of Chief Executive Officer in 2012. He shepherded the company to recognition by Deloitte Canada as a regional “Best Managed Company” in 2013 and 2014 before achieving the prestigious national ranks of “Canada’s Best Managed Companies” in 2015. Under his leadership, Copeman Healthcare was named one of “Canada’s Most Admired Corporate Cultures” by Waterstone Human Capital in 2018. This national program recognizes best-in-class Canadian organizations for having cultures that enhance performance and sustain a competitive advantage.
Prior to joining Copeman Healthcare, Mr. Nedelmann was a Director of Nightingale Informatix, a leading Canadian provider of electronic medical record systems for medical clinics that was acquired by TELUS Health. As Vice-President of the First Medical Group out of Stamford, CT from 1996-2000, Mr. Nedelmann gained a wealth of experience in successfully establishing numerous private hospitals and medical clinics throughout Eastern Europe in the face of unique market and political dynamics.
Mr. Nedelmann is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin and achieved his MBA from the Thunderbird School of Global Management (Arizona State University) in 1994.
