Dr. Boaz Saffer is committed to using scientific research as the foundation for developing high-quality, integrated, and compassionate healthcare programs. His approach is defined by a relentless pursuit of technological innovation, a deep empathy for client experiences, and a steadfast dedication to applying scientific principles to create tools and treatments that enhance clients’ lives.
Dr. Saffer earned his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology in 2021 from the University of British Columbia (UBC) and completed his pre-doctoral residency at Vancouver Coastal Health. An accomplished scientist, he was ranked among the top 5% of PhD health researchers in Canada and has secured funding from notable organizations, such as the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, the Killam Foundation, UBC, and the US Department of Defense. His research has been published in leading peer-reviewed journals and presented at national and international conferences.
Formerly the Director of Artificial Intelligence (AI) at Skillsetter.com, Dr. Saffer applied his extensive knowledge of psychological research and expertise in statistics and AI to create multimodal deep learning models that helped psychotherapists enhance their clinical and interpersonal skills. Earlier in his career, he developed an automated neuropsychological assessment scoring system and later significantly advanced the disease prediction algorithms for the Carebook technology, a precursor to HealthChart.
At Harrison, Dr. Saffer rigorously evaluates the scientific integrity of our products and services and leads the organization’s scientific and research endeavours. He plays a pivotal role in the development of Harrison’s Mental Health Assessment Technology (MHAT), guiding it from its inception to its clinical application, and works closely with the MHAT team on its validation and continuous refinement. Furthermore, Dr. Saffer has been fundamental in creating a suite of innovative disease risk calculators for HealthChart, and he is dedicated to enhancing its overall functionality—improving risk assessments, care planning, and health monitoring features.
Outside of work, Dr. Saffer is an avid open water swimmer, enjoys stand-up comedy, gripping TV series, and exploring new culinary experiences, particularly when shared with friends and family.
