We are seeking an experienced Genetic Counsellor to support our Genetically Informed Care (GIC) programs. This role offers an opportunity to work within a collaborative, multidisciplinary team and contribute to a more proactive, personalized approach to healthcare.

In this role, you will provide comprehensive genetic counselling services, including risk assessment, interpretation of genetic test results, and client education. You will work closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to integrate genetic insights into individualized care plans, supporting clients in understanding and making informed decisions about their health.

What You Bring & Credentials

  • Master of Science in Genetic Counselling from an accredited program.

  • Certification by the Canadian Board of Genetic Counselling (CBGC) and/or the American Board of Genetic Counsellors (ABGC).
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in genetic counselling, particularly in cancer, cardiac genetics, and prenatal/pre-conception genetics.
  • In-depth knowledge of medical, clinical, and laboratory genetics principles.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and decision-making skills.

• Conduct genetic risk assessments and provide comprehensive counseling for clients at risk of hereditary conditions, particularly in cancer and cardiac genetics. • Review, interpret, and communicate genetic test results to clients, families, and healthcare providers. • Collaborate with physicians and nurse practitioners to integrate genetic data into personalized care plans. • Stay updated on provincial genetic testing processes and coordinate with private genetic testing entities when necessary. • Facilitate client decision-making regarding their genetic health by offering support and guidance. • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to the development of client care strategies. • Engage in continuous education to stay current with advancements in genetic counselling and emerging trends. • 8 hours per week.
