Dr. Akbary brings a vibrant passion for personalized, prevention-focused care and an innate desire to build meaningful connections with her clients. Her warm and attentive approach fosters an environment of trust, where clients feel truly listened to and part of a collaborative team. Dr. Akbary takes pride in developing long-lasting relationships and tailoring treatment plans to meet everyone’s unique needs and lifestyle. With a special focus on women’s health, Dr. Akbary stays at the forefront of the latest research and innovations to provide her clients with cutting-edge, evidence-based care. She finds shared decision-making rewarding as it helps her clients reach their health goals and optimize their health outcomes.
Dr. Akbary’s educational journey began at the University of Toronto, where she earned an Honours Bachelor of Science. Her commitment to women’s health advocacy and leadership blossomed early on through co-founding a campus organization dedicated to health awareness and education. She then pursued her Doctor of Medicine at McMaster University, and completed her Family Practice residency training at UBC’s St. Paul’s program in Vancouver. She continues to nurture her passion for education as a clinical faculty member with UBC’s Department of Medicine. Before joining Harrison, she built invaluable clinical experience at St. Paul’s Hospital, BC Women’s/Children’s Hospital, and on BC’s Sunshine Coast.
When not seeing clients, Roya enjoys exploring the natural beauty of Vancouver alongside her partner, walking the iconic Seawall, experimenting with new recipes, and cuddling with her beloved cat, Melo.
