Michele is delighted to be a part of an exceptional nursing team. She thrives working in a collaborative environment with a complementary team of experts, motivated to provide high quality, personalized health care. She enjoys primary healthcare where she can contribute to a patients journey in health and wellness, and look for new ways to help them achieve optimal outcomes.
Michele received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1991. She completed a critical care certificate and more recently her Diabetes Educator certificate from the Michener Institute in 2020. Michele has worked across Canada in several surgical units in Vancouver, Toronto, and Calgary. After experience in cardiac surgery, she transitioned to a community setting doing cardiac rehabilitation at Total Cardiology in Calgary from 1995.
Michele loves patient education. She has focused much of her career working with patients on establishing heart healthy behaviours including exercise, nutrition, stress management, and helping many live the life they want after a cardiac event. At Harrison, she focuses on coaching patients before an event occurs to implement small and simple prevention strategies that suit their health goals and lifestyle preferences.
Michele has a very active lifestyle; she likes hiking, snowshoeing, and biking. The competition bug got her, and she’s completed a full Ironman triathlon, several half Ironmen, and swum 11km across Skaha Lake in 2019. She enjoys spending time with her two favourite people her adult kids, when they can keep up.
