Genetic Counsellor

Larissa Olshaski

Larissa is passionate about providing care that recognizes both the physical and emotional aspects of health. She values the opportunity to support individuals and families in ways that reflect their unique needs, combining genetic expertise with compassionate, person-centred care. Larissa finds it especially rewarding to help people feel informed, supported, and empowered to make decisions that are right for them and their families.

Larissa earned her Bachelor of Science in Molecular Genetics from the University of Alberta in 2021 before completing her Master of Genetic Counselling at the University of Melbourne in 2024. During her undergraduate studies, she volunteered with crisis helplines, an experience that strengthened her communication skills and deepened her appreciation for the importance of emotional support during challenging times. Her background also includes experience as a laboratory genetic counsellor, where she developed expertise in interpreting and communicating genetic information. Together, these experiences have shaped her thoughtful approach to genetic counselling, combining scientific expertise with a commitment to helping individuals and families feel informed, supported, and confident in their decision-making.

Outside of work, Larissa enjoys making sourdough, spending time outdoors, and travelling to experience different cultures and cuisines. She also loves relaxing at home with her cat.
