Dr Vivian Matta is a committed family doctor who truly believes that each client deserves personalized and empathetic care. She is dedicated to incorporating client-centered care planning and providing a medical home for each individual. She places a major emphasis on coordinating treatment, fostering strong doctor-client relationships, and empowering those clients to make informed healthcare decisions. Dr. Matta firmly believes in team-based care where a client’s care and overall health outcomes benefit from the collaborative input.
Dr. Matta earned her medical degree (MBBCh, a combined Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) from Ain Shams University in Egypt. She became a member of the College of Family Physicians of Canada in 2007, and is also a member of the Royal Society of Medicine in the United Kingdom. Her expertise includes chronic disease management, women’s health, and mental wellness, with a focus on conditions like diabetes, hypertension, asthma, and COPD. She has worked in a specialized chronic disease program, forging links between multidisciplinary care teams to help clients access the most appropriate services.
Dr. Matta is a passionate educator. She serves as a clinical associate professor at the University of Calgary, mentoring medical students and residents. She is also an assessor with the International Medical Graduate Association where she enjoys helping international physicians transition into the Canadian healthcare system. She participates in the CaRMS residency selection process reviewing applicants and interviewing the future family medicine residents of Alberta. Through these contributions and more, she has been awarded the FCFP designation (a Fellowship) for family physicians who distinguish themselves through outstanding contribution to their communities, their colleagues, and the discipline of family medicine.
When not caring for clients, Dr. Matta loves spending quality time with her family, staying active, discovering and testing new recipes, and traveling the world.
