Dr. Roxanne Swiegers is an experienced and passionate family physician dedicated to holistic care and teamwork. She values the opportunity to get to know clients well, whilst working alongside a collaborative and multi-disciplinary team. Her compassionate care is tailored to personalized, precision medicine and empowering clients to follow through and achieve their health goals. Dr. Swiegers has special interests in mental health, neurodevelopmental disorders like ADHD and autism spectrum disorder, and women’s health.
Dr. Swiegers obtained her medical degree from the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa in 1984 and actively pursues lifelong learning. She has completed additional education with a BSc Hons Pharmacology, Diploma in Cancer Chemotherapy, and BSc Hons Psychology. Since emigrating to Canada in 1995, and following a stint in Saskatchewan, she has been practicing family medicine in Alberta since 2003. In 2020, she received the Alberta College of Family Physicians’ Recognition of Excellence Award. Dr Swiegers is a course master on faculty with CanREACH, an award-winning teaching program about Patient centered Mental health in Paediatric primary care.
Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and close-knit family of four adult children and two grandchildren. To stay active, she can be found paddleboarding, canoeing, and skiing depending on the season, and playing pickleball.
