Dr. Richard Taylor sees his role as part physician, part educator, and part guide, taking the time to understand each client’s priorities, circumstances, and goals. He places a strong emphasis on education, helping clients develop the knowledge and confidence to take an active role in their care. Grounded in evidence-based medicine, Dr. Taylor values a collaborative approach, recognizing that the best plan is one a client understands, believes in and is genuinely able to follow.
Dr. Taylor earned his Bachelor of Science in Cell Biology and Genetics from the University of British Columbia before completing his medical degree at the University of Sydney in 2013. He later became a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and earned a Fellowship as a Rural Generalist in 2024. His experience spans family practice, chronic disease management, preventive health, emergency medicine, paediatrics, psychiatry, and minor procedures. From 2021 to 2025, he served as Lead General Practitioner in a remote Western Australian community where he supported comprehensive and multidisciplinary team-based care in a setting with significant clinical and social complexity. This role also involved clinical leadership and teaching, alongside the coordination of emergency transfers when higher levels of care were required. This varied clinical experience allows Dr. Taylor to consider each client’s health from multiple perspectives and quickly identify when concerns may benefit from further investigation or specialized care.
After approximately fifteen years overseas, Dr. Taylor returned to Vancouver with his wife and three children, with the decision to come home rooted in family. Outside of medicine, he enjoys sport, art, and culture, but is happiest simply spending time with those closest to him. When he finds a quiet moment, he also values time in nature and the opportunity to slow down and reset
Dr. Taylor will be available to see Harrison clients from September 15, 2026.
