Dr. MacMillan was an integral part of the neonatal resuscitation team at Centralia Hospital and worked as part of a call group consisting of fellow family doctors and pediatricians. She collaborated with her colleagues to care for new mother and baby duos, ensuring a smooth transition for newborns, and providing critical and compassionate care for newborns during potentially high-risk deliveries.
In 2020, Dr. MacMillan returned to Canada and became a member of the College of Family Physicians of Canada and the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia. Since then, her focus has been on family care, particularly young families.
