Associate Director, Clinical Operations, Calgary (Mission)

Laurie Belgrave

Laurie is a collaborative leader who believes that healthcare is at its best when clinicians work together to share knowledge, skills, and resources. With extensive experience leading teams of nurses, she creates an environment where collaboration thrives—both among staff and with clients. Laurie is deeply motivated by prevention and has built her leadership practice around empowering her team to support clients in making positive lifestyle changes, with the goal of preventing disease or addressing it early, when outcomes are most effective. She prioritizes getting to know clients personally, ensuring that care is not only evidence-based but also individualized. Through her leadership, Laurie helps her team inspire clients to take ownership of their health, guiding them toward optimal wellness on their own terms. These shared successes are where she finds the greatest fulfillment.

Laurie began her nursing career after graduating from the University of New Brunswick in 2000. Her expertise lies in cardiac medicine and heart disease, having worked at Brunswick Heart Centre, Foothills CICU and Total Cardiology. She is passionate about prevention and risk factor management, with a wealth of experience coaching both clients and healthcare professionals on lifestyle modifications. She has led initiatives in stress management, sleep hygiene, and smoking cessation—equipping both her patients and her teams with tools to promote long-term health. Laurie firmly believes that leadership in nursing extends beyond direct care: it is about guiding teams, shaping practice, and empowering others to make meaningful, lasting changes in health and wellness.

Laurie’s compassion shines beyond Harrison’s walls as she has fostered five rescued dogs through Pawsitive Match until she found “the one” and kept him! She spends her free time walking her dog and enjoys riding her bike or getting the most out of a yoga class.
