Heather is devoted to empowering clients on their health journeys. With extensive expertise in geriatric care and healthy aging, she takes a compassionate, personal approach to developing customized wellness strategies for all her clients. Heather excels in navigating clients through the healthcare system and engaging them with the tools to lead vibrant, meaningful lives. She enjoys partnering closely with her clients and families, working together on plans and strategies to optimize health outcomes.
Holding both a Bachelor of Nursing from the University of Calgary (2004) and a Master of Nursing from Athabasca University (2010), Heather draws on a wide-range of nursing roles and experience. Her rich expertise ranges from cardiology and internal medicine to pediatrics, academia, and collaborating in a multidisciplinary team-based setting. She also served as a Clinical Nurse Educator in internal medicine with Alberta Health Services, and has been a member of the nursing faculty at Mount Royal University for over 10 years.
While there, Heather led the development and delivery of the Dementia Care Advanced Certificate Program supporting both care workers and families of those living with dementia. She is an authorized prescriber for Alberta Aids to Daily Living (AADL) and volunteers in the community educating seniors on cognitive health and aging. While working as a primary care nurse, she led the development of policies, procedures, training, and case management for a diverse client base.
Heather enjoys tending to her vegetable garden in the summer, cooking, reading a good book, and travelling with her family, including three wonderful children.
