Family Physician, Vancouver

Dr. Scott Bentley

Dr. Scott Bentley enthusiastically supports Harrison’s collaborative approach to wellbeing, primary prevention, and chronic disease management. His practice is based around the principles of Lifestyle Medicine, where he seeks to empower patients to implement and maintain healthy habits through improvements in areas of their life such as physical activity, nutrition, sleep health, stress management, and social connection.

In 1998, Dr Bentley completed medical school at the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia, followed by his residency in Family Medicine, with advanced skills in GP Anesthesiology. Dr Bentley is a Licentiate of the Medical Council of Canada (LMCC). Dr Bentley holds Fellowship of—and was previously an Examiner for—the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, as well as Certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada. He is a Certified Physician of both the International Board of Lifestyle Medicine and the Australasian Society of Lifestyle Medicine. Passionate for developing medical talent, he’s also held academic appointments with James Cook University and the University of Queensland in Australia.

Dr. Bentley’s international clinical experience has taken him to many far-reaching places. He provided family medicine, emergency and critical care, and medevacs with the Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia to the expansive regions of outback Australia. He has worked as a rural physician in the Canadian Rockies and as an expedition doctor for six months in East Africa. In these remote settings, Dr. Bentley has gained an appreciation for relationship building with his clients and developing individualized health care plans so they are set up to successfully follow those plans and achieve their health goals.

In his free time, Dr. Bentley enjoys getting into nature, running, traveling, and reading. Paramount to this, is relaxing over good food and great coffee with his wife, their family, and friends.

  • From High Risk to Heart Healthy
Annual bloodwork for an otherwise healthy 45-year-old client revealed elevated LDL cholesterol. This health scare served as the necessary catalyst to kickstart significant dietary and lifestyle changes. Paul was able to change his trajectory toward a longer and more fulfilling life with the support of his dietitian and team.
