Family Physician, Vancouver

Dr. Aaron Hoo

Dr. Hoo’s approach to healthcare is aligned with Harrison’s core value of compassion, and its philosophy of team-based care. He appreciates the extra time and expertise this affords him, so that he can focus on getting to know his clients better and collaborating with other professional team members on care planning. He is also a strong supporter of Harrison’s Precision Medicine program, believing that personalization and approaching patients in a holistic way that is governed by evidence-based care principles, will achieve the best results.

After achieving his medical degree in 2016, Dr. Aaron Hoo completed his residency at the University of Manitoba and has practiced in rural and remote areas of Manitoba for the past several years. Through his experience in emergency rooms, he gained valuable training and certification with the Canadian Point of Care Ultrasound Society. With limited resources to draw upon, this invaluable time gifted him with exceptional expertise in the treatment of individuals with chronic disease, and in the prevention of disease for high-risk individuals. Additionally, it led to unique skills in chronic pain management and he set up a clinic to address those patients in need. Dr. Hoo’s undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of British Columbia has also provided him with a unique ability to connect with his patients in a compassionate way and help them through impediments to therapeutic lifestyle change.

Dr. Hoo embraces the need to understand the sometimes-complex history and lifestyles of his clients, meet them where they are at, and motivate them to take action while feeling fully engaged in their path to optimal wellness. Dr. Hoo also appreciates Harrison’s commitment to “inclusivity” and he brings wonderfully compassionate experience treating members of the LGBTQ2S+ community.

Prior to receiving his medical degree, Dr. Hoo achieved his ND Doctor diploma from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in 2001. Although no longer practicing as a Naturopathic Doctor, he brings a valuable body of knowledge in the that field to Harrison. He combines his naturopathic and conventional medical training to deliver an integrative approach to medicine, which is quickly gaining attention in the medical world as an effective approach in achieving optimal health outcomes. Dr. Hoo has served as a medical science liaison in the corporate world and has provided educational lectures in clinical nutrition around the world.

In his spare time, Dr. Hoo can be found travelling, spending time with family and friends, playing pickleball, and enjoying the great outdoors.
