Exercise Physiologist

Cam Friesen

Cam provides a patient-centered, individualized, collaborative, and holistic approach to care, and aligns with Harrison’s vision to deliver optimal health outcomes this way. He builds relationships with his clients and provides compassionate support as well as evidence-based guidance. By understanding all aspects of a client’s health and their motivators, he believes he can contribute more effectively to each individual care plan. Cam creates an enjoyable and judgment-free zone with his clients so that they are empowered to implement change on their own terms. Nothing makes him happier than to see a client overcome an obstacle and leave happier than when they started.

Cam completed his Bachelor of Human Kinetics in 2017 from UBC Okanagan, where he also played on the varsity basketball team in beautiful Kelowna, BC. He graduated with a Master of Science in Chronic Disease Management in 2022 from St Mary’s Twickenham in London, UK. He’s worked as both an exercise physiologist and kinesiologist in Abbotsford, BC and London, UK. Cam’s expertise is in chronic disease management, weight management, and helping his clients with behavioural change to create healthier lifestyle habits. He sees great value in precision and preventive medicine to ensure each care plan is highly personalized and optimizes a client’s health outcome.

Cam has experience working with other multidisciplinary teams and enjoys being able to contribute to client care with other experts in their own fields. He understands the importance and impact this approach has on clients, as allowing them to feel fully supported by a team is uniquely impactful for their wellbeing. As such, Cam is an excellent team player and appreciates the collaborative environment with colleagues at Harrison.

Cam loves to travel and learn about the history, language, and culture of an area. He’s an outdoorsy and active guy, always on the lookout for another fitness event or sport to try. Or he’s enjoying some downtime with family and friends over a delicious meal.

  • Endorphins Unleashed: The Role of Exercise in Stress Management
Exercise is a powerful practice that relieves stress and improves our physical and mental health. During exercise we release endorphins and other chemicals to help with pain, reward systems, stress response, and even autonomic control (the nervous system).
